Orthokeratology (ortho-k) is a non-surgical procedure that uses specialty rigid contact lenses to temporarily reshape the cornea and reduce or eliminate nearsightedness. Dr. Golitz at Eye and Contact Lens Center in Kirkland, WA, has over 30 years of experience fitting orthokeratology lenses, making him one of the top specialists in the greater Seattle area.
A Pioneer and Leading Expert in Orthokeratology
Dr. Golitz has been involved with orthokeratology since its early clinical applications. He worked with pilots and firefighters using ortho-k contact lenses to improve vision clarity as far back as 1989. Around 20 years ago, he began working closely with Contex Inc. to provide their FDA-approved ortho-k lenses, specifically designed for controlling the progression of myopia in children.
"We at Contex have worked with Dr. Golitz since 1989 and he is one of the leading myopia control management practitioners in the Pacific Northwest. His dedication to expertise in the field is outstanding. I would trust my kids and grandkids with his care."

How Paragon CRT® Orthokeratology Works
Paragon CRT orthokeratology uses rigid gas permeable contact lenses that are custom-designed and fitted to the unique curvature of each patient's eye. Wearing the lenses overnight gently reshapes the cornea to temporarily reduce or eliminate nearsightedness and improve clear vision during the day without glasses or contacts.
In children, Paragon CRT ortho-k also controls the progression of myopia by reducing how much the eyes elongate over time. This helps avoid extreme nearsightedness later in life and preserves healthy vision long-term.
A Safe, Reversible Alternative to Glasses and Contacts
Orthokeratology has several advantages that make it an excellent option for children with myopia:
- FDA-approved and clinically proven safe and effective for controlling pediatric myopia
- Non-surgical and completely reversible - does not permanently alter the eyes
- Reduces or eliminates the need for glasses or contacts during the day
- Controls the progression of nearsightedness compared to other treatments
